Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles applauds the California Senate for passing a bill that provides a dual path for greenhouse gas emissions reductions and for new economic development through the growth of renewable energy in California. Senate Bill 350 (authored by Senate Pro Tem Kevin de León), which calls for a 50% reduction in petroleum use in vehicles, an increase in the state’s renewable energy standard to 50%, and a 50% increase in building energy efficiency by 2030, was supported by a variety of environmental, health, and justice organizations including PSR-LA.
